SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

The specific hardware that you will need for your configurations depends on environmental factors.To achieve individual performance expectations, you may need to increase these recommendations.

Server Requirement:

  • Customer Profile 1

    Use the following guidelines if you:
  • Use only Financial Series modules
  • Have between 0-15 concurrent users for Microsoft SQL Server or 0-10 concurrent users for MSDE 2000/Express
  • Use Report Writer, Crystal Reports or FRx
  • Process fewer then 500 transactions per day
  • Import very little data
  • Dedicated server with Microsoft SQL Server only
  • Recommend a dedicated server with MSDE 2000/Express only

Use these guidelines if you:

  • Use Financials Series modules
  • Use Distribution Series modules moderately
  • Use Field Service Series modules
  • Use Manufacturing Series or Project Series modules moderately
  • Have between 10 and 30 concurrent users
  • Use Terminal Server
  • Use Report Writer, Crystal Reports or FRx
  • Perform some online analytical processing (OLAP) cube generation
  • Using an import routine/eConnect/Integration Manager
  • Process between 500 and 2000 transactions per day
    -Originating in Sales (SOP and/or RM), Payables or General Ledger
  • Dedicated Microsoft SQL Server

  • RAID 1 for TempDB (2 disks) - optional, but recommended
  • RAID 0 for SQL backups (full and log) (2 disks)

  • Perform online analytical processing (OLAP) cube generation (to different machine)

Terminal Server Requirements

It is recommended to have a dedicated Terminal Server/Citrix Server. There may be performance losses if Microsoft SQL Server is running on the Terminal Server/Citrix Server.  Therefore, it is highly recommended to have two separate servers. One server with Terminal Server and/or Citrix and one server with Microsoft SQL Server.

1 - MSDE 2000 and SQL 2005 Express can be installed on a non-server operating system, however it is recommended to install on a server operating system. 
The only non-server operating system supported for MSDE 2000 is Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP 2.  The only non-server operating system supported for SQL 2005 Express is Microsoft Windows XP Professional SP 2 or Microsoft Windows Vista.

2 -Make sure processors can be upgraded

3 - Additional disks will improve Microsoft SQL Server performance.
Recommend using a dual-channel fast and wide SCSI-2 controller.

4 - Microsoft Dynamics GP 10.0 client and server installations are not compiled for a 64-bit operating system and therefore the not supported on any Windows 64-bit operating system.  This includes x64 Windows 2003, x64 Windows XP and x64 Windows Vista operating systems.  The Microsoft SQL Server databases can exist on a 64-bit operating system.

5 - Verify processors can be upgraded to 4 processors for Standard Edition or up to 8 processors for Enterprise Edition .

6 - Additional disks will improve Microsoft SQL Server performance.
To attain 2000 transactions a day, you may need to increase the number of disks in your RAID 5 disk volume Recommend use of Ultra SCSI 3 or Fiber Controller

7 - If more then 2 GB of RAM is available, enable the 3GB and/or PAE switch in the boot.ini if using Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.

8 - Verify switch is capable of handling network traffic

15 - If accessing Citrix, the hardware and software must be supported according to the Citrix configuration requirements.

16 - Make sure processors can be upgraded to 4 processors for Standard Edition or 8 processors for Enterprise Edition

17 - The amount of RAM needed depends on the number of concurrent users per Terminal Server.

18 - Recommend no more then 25 users per 100 Base T network card, unless a Fiber NIC is installed.  If a Fiber NIC is installed, the SQL Server should also have a Fiber NIC installed for optimal network performance.  Verify switch is capable of handling network traffic

19 - Increased user count may require greater RAM and Processor speed
Users utilizing FRx or Crystal reporting via Terminal Services may require increased hardware to increase performance

20 - 32-bit operating systems supported only. 64-bit operating systems not supported.

21 - Microsoft Office Outlook is required for the Outlook area to display on the home page. The Microsoft Office Web Components are required for the  home page metrics. The Microsoft Office 2003 Web Components must be installed if you are using Microsoft Office 2007.
